Friends,
Last time I visited the Manufacture I had the privilege to see some of their museum pieces.
Not only astonishing craftsmanship and beauty were made so many years ago…
The innovative, the joy of making beautiful watches and ability to think "outside the box" shone through already back then!
Here is an example, Theatre spectacles.
Yellow gold case decorated with blue enamel and floral patterns with diamond settings.
Blue is a significant color for Girard-Perregaux, and it shows also on their historical pieces of which several have blue enamel work on their cases.
Unfolded, you have a perfect pair of theatre spectacles!
Folded, the spectacles will fit perfect in a ladies purse or a pocket.
As you can see, the spectacles are signed Rossel & Fils, but also J. F. Bautte & Cie.
This piece is from circa 1860. Inside is a cylinder escapement movement.
