The GP RM Multi Axis Tourbillon Open  Dial is a watch I discovered at the 2018 SIHH, which impressed me a lot. In a good and not so good way.

The good way? The combination of a minute repeater and a multi axis tourbillon is not something you will see every day. It is fascinating in a double way, for the ears and the eyes.

And it is pretty nice looking!

The other good point? The use of titanium, which makes it not too heavy to wear...

The negative points? I only see two:

It is a big ( 48 mm ) and very thick watch ( 21, 24 mm high! ) Which makes it too difficult to wear for most of us. Ok, we can always think that a multi axis tourbillon doesn't help to restrain the height, but this is not so true: See what Jaeger Lecoultre does, with their Gyrotourbillon and minute repeater... They are at least 6 mm less high!

Then the price. We are not far from half a million euros, from memory...

Aaaah, and as we are a tad picky, here, I would prefer a less dark crown.

Best,

Nicolas

I’m a bit indifferent to tourbillons

But I would prefer this dial over the skeletonized Reverso you posted yesterday as it has 2 transparent (albeit small) dials. The darker crown is like a certain supermodel’s mole don’t you think

They are not playing, the Reverso and this GP in the same league, or better said, they don't sing the same song. As for the dark crown I totally agree. ;)

The pictures of the watch

It is a beauty, that is the good thing. The less good or not so good parts you told us in understandable talk. Big big watch, it is hard to wear. All this would not be so much of a problem if the case and glass is scratch and bump proof. Reading the time like a regulator is something to get used to it. The good part is the complicated tourbillon would not be covered by a hand swiping over the tourbillon. A half a million for a watch is ok when it match taste for all the best there is. It must be

An excellent choice, this IWC. I would go for an original Portuguese, Cal 89.
