1. Grey Perlon

Still a grey leather strap to arrive. 

Not convinced yet on any compared to original steel bracelet: Perlon looks and feels to thin & cheap; Black leather is too formal.

18mm strap not very wide anyway so may try cutting some wider straps to fit. 

More trials to come, I guess.

So far I'd agree that the bracelet looks best.

But the fun is in looking for something better. So keep at it. And keep us posted.

The grey perlon strap is the one which works the best in the context of this timepiece for me. But I'm impatient to see your new tests

Dark leather doesn't match with this GP, you'd need a strap that reaches case edges

You mean...

... reaches the outer width of the lugs? Or one of those straps with leather pad that protects whole case? (as usually seen on small dial vintage military & chrono's)
