Blomman Mr Blue takes readers on a 'Throwback Thursday' journey to 1955, showcasing the Girard-Perregaux Gyromatic reference 6787. His post highlights a vintage advertisement featuring this model and draws attention to its distinctive, almost diamond-shaped case and angular lugs. This article offers a detailed look at a lesser-known vintage GP reference, emphasizing its unique aesthetic from the mid-20th century.
Friends,
It has been awhile but it is time again for Girard-Perregaux Throwback Thursday!
And this time I like to take you back to 1955!
Not long ago Nicolas showed us this vintage Girard-Perregaux ad:
The ad features two GP watches: reference 6749, Extra flat and the reference 6787 Gyromatic.
What I find very interesting with the 6787 is the case shape!
Almost diamond shaped with sharp angles, wide bezel and angular lugs.
Screw down case back.
Inside is the Caliber 47 based on ETA Caliber 1256. 7 Jewels, a frequency of 18.000 vph and a power reserve of 40 hours.
Reference 6768:
Only downside is the modest size, 33 mm on the widest partβ¦
But once on the wrist - you don't mind the size!
Best
Blomman

This one is very close to NOS - a very cool case shape! Thinking outside the box already in the 50's... ;) Best Blomman
That is a cool catch mate! So futuristic, almost buck rogerish out star trek!... If you remember that far! Chris
Much like today's Sea Hawk! ;) Thank you, Chris! Best Blomman
