blomman Mr Blue shares his final acquisition of 2014, a Girard-Perregaux Gyromatic Reference 6213 B in stainless steel. His post highlights the watch's classic design, unique linear sunburst dial, and the presence of Tritium lume, offering a detailed look at this vintage piece.
Friends,
I like to share the last watch that was delivered to our home last year.
The Gyromatic reference 6213 B in stainless steel.
It is a classic looking Gyromatic with “sun burst” silver dial, but like many of Girard-Perregaux dials the pattern doesn’t go from the center of the dial and out. It is linear from top to bottom.
Applied steel indexes, enhanced at 3/6/9/12. Steel hands with luminous. The SWISS T mark on the dial indicated that it is Tritium used, both on hands and dial.
Time only,
central seconds and no date. (Will this one be approved by Vlad?!
)
The stainless steel case has nice proportions with beautifully curved lugs.
The case is water resistant with a screw down case back.
Inside is the GP Caliber 47 based on the ETA caliber 1256. Automatic movement (hence the Gyromatic on the dial), beating with the frequency of 18000 vph.
A couple of interesting details here are the markings on the movement. I suspect this watch was originally sold in America. If you look closely you see the GXM marking beside the balance wheel. Secondly, at the center of the rotor is says “Adjusted Swiss”.
The movement is clean and keeps very good time.
As you can see this is a very nice clean watch that would fit perfect into my collection…
There is only one catch, it is not mine!
After examining the watch he gave his approval.
This is Junior’s third GP and he is very happy with this one!
Dimensions, the watch is 31 mm in diameter – good for his wrist.
It is 39 mm lug to lug, 16 mm between the lugs and 10.5 mm high.
On the wrist it looks very classic. Still a tad on the larger side for him…
But that is good since he is growing very fast!
Junior sends a special regards to his Croatian cousin!
I wish you all a great weekend, and please don’t forget to join our WristScan!

I also bought another sunburts dial from that time, similar: time only, no date, 33mm case. It's still on its way to me though. CC
Dates for Papa, No Dates for Junior... You see, we are two against you. ;) Tonton Nico
Thank you, CC! :) Yes, these sunburst silver dials are such a pleasure to look at. Looking forward to see your next! :) Best Blomman
Junior, he might become the next Vlad here! ;) Thank you, tonton Nico! :) Best Blomman
.. Junior will love it; so does his Sugar Dad ! Little Q: does the dial have a sort of greenish color or patina, or is this just a flash effect ?.. I think, over time I 'll have to come one day, then walk & look with you, until the strong Volvo truck curves into " GP - Hunters Lane". Slowly I start to think, there won't be too many left , in a given radius of Xxx- km... ;) And of course, thx for sharing pics of watch and little C's wrist ! Best, also for the upcoming WE !! hs
To all vintage GP's - Look out, here comes HS with his big truck! Hide! ;) And when they run for cover, I pick them up.... ;) Thank you, my friend. Junior is very happy with his latest catch! :) The greenish tone in the pics is due to the flash. Best Blomman
