Blomman Mr Blue explores the art of collecting watches by theme, showcasing his impressive Girard-Perregaux Deep Diver collection. His post encourages collectors to view their watches as interconnected groups, revealing a deeper narrative within their acquisitions. This approach offers a fresh perspective on building a meaningful watch collection.
Friends,
I guess there are as many ways of collecting watches as there are collectors…
Me, I love to collect themes – like the Girard-Perregaux Deep Diver:
A big part of my passion and joy when it comes to wristwatches is to be able to link my watches together, connect them through different themes.
By brand, model, type, function or color, ….
History, vintage or modern, …
Grouping them together:
But what I think we all have common is that if you take a step back and look at your collection as a group instead of individual watches, there is a line to follow!
What would you say is your “line”?

Well, I am a lost case... ;) Bravo for such an impressive line up. You miss at least one modern! Best, Nicolas
So, you need at least one Deep Diver for your Divers theme! In these shots, 4 of my Deep Diver/Sea Hawk are missing... Will try to make a group shot once they are all back! When it comes to missing in the collection - I miss the early Sea Hawk's and the frist generation Deep Diver. And of course the later/current Sea Hawk's..... The pleasure of working a theme - you are never really finished! ;) Best Blomman
I think if you would start, you need at least 4 vintage + 1 modern! ;) Best, my friend Blomman
You need minimum 4 or 5.... Like me, just one GMT doesn't make me a GMT collector! ;) Best Blomman
