Friends,
Let’s go back to March 1972 and have a look at one commercial pamphlet that Girard-Perregaux used then.
A FX Calculator!

As you saw on the front, the Gyromatic Chronometer HF was used which is logical.
In 1972 the Chronometer HF was the big number!
“The most accurate Girard-Perregaux High Frequency chronometer in the world”!

The calculator shows the Exchange between Swiss Franc, Italian Lira, French Franc, USD and Deutsch Mark!
How does it work? You slide the inside paper up and down to the Currency/Amount you are looking for…
And the equivalent amount in the other currencies will be shown in the windows.
Now this is something you would not see today. With the currency rates going up and down each second!

Another thing you don’t see today are the Swiss bills used in 1972!
Not sure if any of the coins still valid, but the bills I guess are not…

Really cool concept for the time. I wish it worked today, watching FX charts is like watching a roller coaster, makes you sick.
I can confirm you that the coins are still the same (at least from this side). Thanks for sharing this amazing and truly unusual timepiece. Best wishes Alkiro
