Crown comfort shares an intimate look at the Girard-Perregaux Chronograph Ref. 4210, a vintage piece from the mid-1970s. This article delves into the watch's subtle design elements and the unexpected charm it reveals upon closer inspection, highlighting why some watches truly need to be experienced on the wrist.
Friends,
It was a pleasure to meet up with another Purist this weekend and play with some of his watches.
One that surprised me a lot was this 70ies manual Chronograph, Ref 4210. I have seen a few of them only in photos before and in fact, was close on purchasing one but eventually passed.
It’s a not a watch that jumps at you immediately with a WOW, but it has a lot of 70ies charm and many fine details that only get you when you are able to put it on the wrist.
For example the highly polished bezel top combined with the sunburst brushing of the case looks very special. Also the bracelet is very much to my taste.
Fantastic condition, very smooth winding and pusher operation. The dark blue dial has a vertical brush and the subdials have a reflective ring. A lot of details to discover.
Inside is Caliber 240, which is based on Valjoux 236, I believe. Here is a shot of the movement I grabbed from an unknown source.
Really like the look on the wrist. Besides the blue dial, there is also a silver dial version and I think also a black existed.
Would I pass again on this watch? I don’t think so.
Thanks to the owner for letting me play with it!

Thank you for sharing. Best wishes Alkiro

I would have been tempted to sneak off with it!
