In this WatchProSite feature, original author this_hobby_of_hours critically examines the new Girard Perregaux Absolute 8Tech release from GWD 2023. Their initial skepticism regarding its design and price point of USD 27,800 sets the stage for a deeper dive into GP's contemporary offerings versus its rich heritage. This discussion is particularly relevant for collectors evaluating GP's current direction and its appeal to both new and established enthusiasts.

I’m not feeling much love for this one.

I’m not a big fan of any of the absolutes so perhaps some that are fan will like this ?

And at USD 27,800/- 😳

Thoughts ?

I love the Laureato . . . But . . .

GP appears to be centering their efforts and releasing only new or updated Laureatos. I would love for GP to focus some of their efforts on providing us with new Vintage 1945’s!🀞

GP will focus on the two pillars of the brand

According to the CEO Bridges Laureato I do expect a heritage or reissue next year of another model. I’m hoping to see cushion cases in 38 mm again. Ref 2498 with a lovely guilloche dial There is a black dial version as well. Very few made in 2002 288 made in the silver dial Domed sapphire crystal

It looks like a Royal Oak Offshore vs. the regular Royal Oak. I don't like the oversized case, and also the axis of the subdials' hands are very long (seems it is a sandwich dial) leaving a large space between the hands and the subdials...

Not a great one IMHO

Not a big fan either of these 44 mm

And using the GP 3300 which is much smaller is just getting lazy.
