Blomman Mr Blue's 2015 post showcases the Girard-Perregaux 1966 Column-wheel chronograph, offering personal reflections on its design and the challenges of capturing its details. This article provides a collector's perspective on appreciating subtle design elements and the evolution of taste, particularly regarding chronograph layouts and date window integration.
Friends,
Today I like to share two shots of the Girard-Perregaux 1966 Column-wheel chronograph.
These shots were taken in a hurry the first time I was visiting the Manufacture…
Not really happy with them, but this is the only time I had the chance to see this one in the metal.
Hopefully next time I visit I will have the chance to take some better photos…
Recently we discussed the dial and I showed some Photoshop fiction images….
Many of us prefer the dial of the automatic chronograph, especially the blue dial.
Blue, the color of love!
But each time I revisit these shots I more and more start to get used to the layout and appreciate its beauty!
A couple of details I really like are the clean two register dial and the sub dials are not interfering with the scales.
Even the solution of enhancing and framing the date window I find as a good way to integrate the date with the dial.
A very classic and sober chronograph in a 40 mm package!
And when you turn the watch over…
It doesn’t matter what you think about the dial…
The movement layout and the finish of the Caliber GP03800-0001 are just stunning!

Prefer a solid case back. Or a bigger movement...Or a smaller case. Best, nicolas

But I am truly happy you are doing it. Great photos of great watches and they are stirring up my passion for the complication. Thanks!
Already the Romans use this technic to build arenas! Best Blomman
Thank you for joining and sharing the passion! Stay tuned. Soon I will start to post (long over due) about the GP Olimpico chronograph line! Best Blomman
Many watches I love I do not own... But of course, I am working on changing that....! Best Blomman
