Blomman Mr Blue presents the Girard Perregaux 1966 Full Calendar ref. 49535 in pink gold, highlighting the enduring appeal of the triple date complication. His post emphasizes how this classic complication feels particularly at home in a precious metal case, underscoring its timeless elegance and design. The discussion explores the historical context and modern relevance of this complication across various brands.

Friends,

One of the classic complications is the Full Calendar / Triple Date complication.

For me this is one complication that feels very natural to see in a classic precious metal case.

The red Day / Month in red and the red “31” gives the watch some extra character.

To combine the Full Calendar with the Moon Phase complication is another classic.

If there is anything negative from my point of view here, would be the size of the Moon Phase window. Would love to see a tad larger Moon Phase opening.

The case back is the usual seen; open with a beautiful decorated 18 K gold rotor.

A classic beauty!

About the Girard-Perregaux Girard Perregaux 1966 Ref. 1966FullCalendar

The Girard-Perregaux 1966 Full Calendar with Moon-phase, reference 49535, is a notable iteration within the 1966 collection, distinguished by its comprehensive calendar display and lunar phase indicator. This model exemplifies the brand's commitment to classical watchmaking aesthetics, integrating multiple complications while maintaining a balanced dial layout. It represents a modern interpretation of traditional watch design, appealing to collectors who appreciate a blend of historical inspiration and contemporary sizing.

This reference features a case crafted from a precious metal, housing an automatic movement. The design prioritizes legibility of its day, date, month, and moon-phase functions, presented beneath a sapphire crystal. The proportions of the case are carefully considered to ensure a harmonious appearance, even with its larger dimensions compared to historical counterparts, reflecting a design philosophy focused on enduring appeal rather than transient trends.

For collectors, the 1966 Full Calendar offers a complete calendar complication in a refined package. Its design language aligns with Girard-Perregaux's heritage of producing sophisticated timepieces, making it a relevant piece for those seeking a dress watch with practical complications. Yes and No, dear HS. JLC was very early with this configuration in wristwatches. But so was GP, VC among others. A modern Triple Date almost all major brands have in their collection... But that fact do not remove any beauty of this type of calendar watch! :) Best, my friend Blomman
