Jay (Eire) shares an intimate look at a friend's F.P. Journe Octa Automatique Lune from the Collection Boutique Nacre, a piece he describes as even more appealing in person. His post offers a rare glimpse into a less commonly seen Journe aesthetic, highlighting the pink gold case, gold guilloche, and pink mother-of-pearl dial combination. Jay's personal journey to appreciating these unique dials provides valuable context for collectors considering this distinctive F.P. Journe series.
I’m sharing a watch recently purchased by a friend of mine. I just got to see it in the metal a week or so ago and it was even more appealing in person. I don’t think we see many of these generally, although I do know we have at least one Platinum version here.
For those unfamiliar this watch it is from the Collection Boutique Nacre. I will say these watches took longer for me to warm up to than the Black Label but since I got to the point of seeing the beauty in these pieces I’ve come to like these more and more.
And while for me I’d love to have a CS with a full Mother of Pearl dial (that’s been the Journe “grail” for me, it doesn’t exist as far as I’m aware) these come pretty close.
The pink gold case, gold guilloche and the pink mother of pearl as you see here is my preferred combination.
A beautiful watch and a great entry to the world of Journe.

The F.P. Journe Chronomètre Souverain represents the foundational timepiece within the brand's Souveraine collection. This reference demonstrates the manufacture's approach to precision timekeeping through manual winding mechanics, positioned as a core offering in F.P. Journe's lineup.
The 40mm case is executed in 18k rose gold with a fixed bezel configuration. A sapphire crystal protects the silver dial, while the manual-winding caliber 1304 movement provides an 80-hour power reserve. The timepiece features 30-meter water resistance and is paired with a leather strap. Production commenced in 2000.
This reference appeals to collectors seeking F.P. Journe's mechanical execution in a fundamental three-hand configuration. The substantial power reserve and manual winding caliber position this model for enthusiasts who appreciate traditional watchmaking approaches within the Souveraine series framework.
I still don't know how I feel about Mother of Pearl dials.... Would have to see it in person, I don't despise Mother of Pearl dials, like I usually despise lots of diamonds on watches, just have some pre-conceived reservations which, honestly, could be baseless....
As I was looking for some info on FPJ's Collection Boutique Nacre, I came across this very interesting, old thread on our very forum by Andrew Daley: www.watchprosite.com Cheers.
I will say it took many passes for me to “get” these editions, and even still I think I’d prefer a full MOP dial (or as close as one can get to it).
But that is the beauty of diversity in horology right, being able to appreciate different movements, dials, cases, and straps?
You know, the other MOP watch that I’ve really been attracted to in recent years was Patek’s 7200 with the blue MOP (was it blue?) which was launched for the NY Exhibition in 2017 (even with the diamond markers). Not for me, it’s a little feminine. But I do like it.
There are also other Resonances, Optimums etc. Lots of eye candy to distract you as the US tries to keep itself together tomorrow.
