About the F.P. Journe Chronomètre Souverain Ref. chronometre

The F.P. Journe Chronomètre Souverain represents the foundational timepiece within the brand's Souveraine collection. This reference demonstrates the manufacture's approach to precision timekeeping through manual winding mechanics, positioned as a core offering in F.P. Journe's lineup.

The 40mm case is executed in 18k rose gold with a fixed bezel configuration. A sapphire crystal protects the silver dial, while the manual-winding caliber 1304 movement provides an 80-hour power reserve. The timepiece features 30-meter water resistance and is paired with a leather strap. Production commenced in 2000.

This reference appeals to collectors seeking F.P. Journe's mechanical execution in a fundamental three-hand configuration. The substantial power reserve and manual winding caliber position this model for enthusiasts who appreciate traditional watchmaking approaches within the Souveraine series framework.

I had it in rose gold white dial and found it a little bland over time. These two would stick with me.

Is the Havana dial and I am happy with it. The blue is nice too so it's a matter of personal preference.

Never owned a Journe, and likely never will (be able to), but I think the Havana has far more visual interest (and will likely be more versatile). Either one, of course, is wonderful. Congrats to finding yourself in such a predicament. 🥳

To begin with, these two Journe dials are, for me, the best of the best. So there’s no wrong decision. If you find yourself in Paris out for the night, definitely the blue dial. If you’re on deck in the tropics off Anguilla, definitely the brown dial. Just surroundings, amount of sun, urban or outdoors, time of day. But both are tremendously versatile.

I have platinum that I love. It looks very different with various straps and I love its versatility. If I had to pick between these two I would choose platinum with blue dial.

To me, both are very cold watches. But if I had to chose one in PT then it’s the blue dial. It’s also the more versatile watch and so perhaps you’ll get more wrist time with it. Personally I think both dials are better in the rose gold cases. Much warmer watches and my tastes today are more towards that warmer look.
