Jay (Eire) shares a compelling account of his F.P. Journe Centigraphe Souverain (CTS) accompanying him on an extended journey, marking the longest he's worn a single watch in two decades. His experience highlights the unique challenges and unexpected quirks that can arise even with haute horlogerie timepieces when subjected to continuous wear and travel. Jay's narrative provides valuable insight into the practical ownership experience of a high-complication F.P. Journe, moving beyond static appreciation to real-world performance.
Day 32 of a 33 day streak on the road with the CTS. And my final coffee in my favourite city in the world. (If you look closely you can see the reflection of some cherry blossoms on the crystal).
Iâve not worn one single watch consistently for this amount of time in about 20 years, and that was my ever reliable bomb proof Sea-Dweller.
Well, as some of you know the adventure wasnât without incident. About 10 days into my trip my CTS suddenly stopped. I had wound it in the morning and perhaps 4 hours later it just stopped.
Long story short it started working again on the 6th day of me wearing the non functioning watch, and it has been fine since.
A couple of folkâs suggested that it could have been magnetized. Perhaps this was the case, I was just unaware that magnetism could stop the watch (versus impacting the timing).
Interestingly some others also shared similar (one-off) experiences with their Centigraphe. A stopped watch and then later fully functional again.
Whatâs funny is that I really went back and forth about taking a Rolex on this trip instead, and of course when the issue occurred I mumbled to myself âI knew I should have taken the fân Rolexâ !

The F.P. Journe Centigraphe Souverain represents the brand s approach to chronograph complications within the Souverain collection. This reference features the specialized caliber 1506 movement and carries the distinctive Centigraphe designation, positioning it as F.P. Journe s chronograph offering in their manual-winding lineup.
The 40mm case is crafted from 18k rose gold and fitted with a sapphire crystal. The silver dial provides the backdrop for the chronograph functions. The manual-winding caliber 1506 movement delivers an 80-hour power reserve. Water resistance is rated to 30 meters, and the watch is completed with a leather strap. The fixed bezel maintains clean proportions around the case perimeter.
This reference appeals to collectors seeking F.P. Journe s interpretation of chronograph mechanics in precious metal construction. Production began in 2007, establishing this as part of the contemporary F.P. Journe catalog. The Centigraphe attracts those interested in independent watchmaking combined with traditional manual-winding chronograph complications, offering substantial power reserve within the 40mm rose gold case format.
