ChristianDK kicks off 'F.P. Friday' by showcasing two of his F.P. Journe timepieces, inviting fellow collectors to share their weekend watch choices. His post highlights the inherent beauty of these watches, even without straps, and reflects on their substantial feel and aesthetic appeal.

The Chronomètre à Résonance represents F.P. Journe's entry in the Souveraine collection, distinguished by its resonance complication. This reference utilizes the principle of resonance between two independent escapements to enhance chronometric precision.
The 40mm case is crafted in 18k rose gold with a fixed bezel and sapphire crystal. The silver dial houses the manual-winding caliber 1499 movement, offering a 42-hour power reserve. Water resistance is rated to 30 meters, and the watch is completed with a leather strap.
This reference appeals to collectors focused on haute horlogerie complications and independent watchmaking. The resonance mechanism positions this piece as a technical showcase within F.P. Journe's manual-winding offerings. Production began in 2000, establishing this as part of the brand's contemporary catalog for collectors seeking advanced chronometric functions.
Perhaps one day 🤗 enjoy the weekend, my friend.
I really like the one on the left! It's fantastic! The Resonance is awesome as well.
The Chronometre Souverain is one of my all time favorite watches. As you can see it is well worn. I have sometimes worn it for 6 months without interruption. These days, many interesting independents offer a simple, manual winding watch. This was not always the case, as you know. Still, I think this one remains at the top of the pyramid with a fantastic and reliable movement, a very pleasing aesthetic dial layout and it’s very flat profile on the wrist. The Resonance is a game changer. Something
The metal, gold, to me was always more of the visual impact than the finishing could ever be. And despite the popularity now of the brass, nobody could argue that these gold movements are far more pleasing to the eye.
All the attention brass receives these days never sat so deep with me. The gold movements a extremely beautiful. They may not have inward angles or Dufour level anglage on the bridges but they certainly are well finished and designed with many beautiful details. Great post, Jay. Have a great weekend my friend.
