AndrewD shares his excitement for the then-upcoming F.P. Journe Chronomètre Optimum, anticipating its official launch in Tokyo. He outlines his personal wish list for a 'super chronometer' and analyzes the teaser image for clues about this new, unique F.P. Journe movement, Calibre 1510.

The F.P. Journe Chronomètre Souverain represents the foundational timepiece within the brand's Souveraine collection. This reference demonstrates the manufacture's approach to precision timekeeping through manual winding mechanics, positioned as a core offering in F.P. Journe's lineup.
The 40mm case is executed in 18k rose gold with a fixed bezel configuration. A sapphire crystal protects the silver dial, while the manual-winding caliber 1304 movement provides an 80-hour power reserve. The timepiece features 30-meter water resistance and is paired with a leather strap. Production commenced in 2000.
This reference appeals to collectors seeking F.P. Journe's mechanical execution in a fundamental three-hand configuration. The substantial power reserve and manual winding caliber position this model for enthusiasts who appreciate traditional watchmaking approaches within the Souveraine series framework.
They talk about a High Performance Bi-Axial escapement... I'm also very curious... Best regards, Dirk
Thanks for the patent link. Stretched my French, but the sketches look very interesting. If not for the Optimum, then another future F.P.Journe timepiece. Exciting times! Andrew
No, no idea sorry...but it looks awesome ! Can't wait to see it in the 'metal'...
Does is look to you like the seconds dial is on the back? I assume if it has a remontoir it will have a dead seconds too! Looks like the piggy bank might be in danger! Best Andreas
I met F.P.Journe last week and he was wearing the watch. Of course, I couldn't take any pic. But believe me, it is the best Journe for a long time. The watch is beautiful and at the same time hypnotizing thanks to the Remontoir dial side. Funny to see the second hand on the movement running anti-clockwise. Fx
