To those celebrating. To those of you who don’t, happy holidays. I wish everyone of you that your wishes may come true. Even if the horological ones have become more difficult to achieve this year.

I’m celebrating a very casual  Christmas with my little family at the summer house. As I’m just wearing an old beater (no Journe) I’m posting what I personally think is THE most beautiful FP Journe watch I have seen.

It’s a throwback to the epic Resonance exhibition in Geneva in 2020. There where many spectacular dials on display. In fact most of those ever made. Special engravings, ruthinium ect... The one that really stole my heart was a 38 mm Resonance with a regular Rose gold dial and a well worn platinum bracelet.  The watch used to belong to the famous watch journalist Gabriel Tortella. It is now in the collection of the manufacture.

Not the most spectacular in the room,  as I said,  but it just oozes soul and character. Being well worn made it even more charming. A definite vintage character. I think the warm rose dial in combination with all that platinum gives it an otherworldly beauty. Add then the significance of being an early Resonance wrist watch and you have a true masterpiece.

Merry Christmas my friends

About the F.P. Journe Chronomètre à Résonance Ref. resonance

The Chronomètre à Résonance represents F.P. Journe's entry in the Souveraine collection, distinguished by its resonance complication. This reference utilizes the principle of resonance between two independent escapements to enhance chronometric precision.

The 40mm case is crafted in 18k rose gold with a fixed bezel and sapphire crystal. The silver dial houses the manual-winding caliber 1499 movement, offering a 42-hour power reserve. Water resistance is rated to 30 meters, and the watch is completed with a leather strap.

This reference appeals to collectors focused on haute horlogerie complications and independent watchmaking. The resonance mechanism positions this piece as a technical showcase within F.P. Journe's manual-winding offerings. Production began in 2000, establishing this as part of the brand's contemporary catalog for collectors seeking advanced chronometric functions.
