Larrykelley11's recent acquisition of a vintage 70s Spaceman watch, inspired by fellow collector InDebtButOnTime, highlights a fascinating niche in horological history. His post delves into the unique design and personal connection to this quirky timepiece, inviting the community to share their insights on these distinctive watches designed by Andre Le Marquand. This article explores the enduring appeal and historical context of these iconic 70s designs.

I have Brian ( Indebtbutontime ) for sending me down this rabbit hole . He shared a pic of the 70’s era Spaceman designed by Andre Le Marquand , this intrigued me, as I did not own a Vintage watch at the time.  There were a number of companies making this style of watch: Fortis, Omax and Vialux to name a few .  Thus began my search for a Spaceman that was in good condition ( it’s been polished ) and have the original bracelet.  I found this one on Etsy and as they say the rest is history. It’s quirky and fun, which seems to be where I am currently in my Watch journey.
Would love to hear your thoughts.

Yes, it’s my newest “ drivers ‘ watch

I got this ink 1 1/2 years ago, seems appropriate

The bracelet is in good condition

My hat rocking the same 70’s colors on the dial.

Well all you have to do to see ALM’s inspiration for that quirky case shape is look at that astronaut’s helmet on your arm! Congratulations!

These are great fun and the 70s were full of them. While I cannot join with a Spaceman, the Amida Digitrend is of a similar vintage 😁
