In a captivating post, cazalea takes readers on an unexpected journey, transforming a quiet morning beach walk into a dramatic spectacle involving a Ford Mustang and the Pacific Ocean. Beyond the immediate incident, cazalea also delves into Ford's expansive corporate history, highlighting its significant acquisitions of luxury and mainstream automotive brands during the 1990s. This article synthesizes community insights, adding depth to both the unfolding beach drama and Ford's complex legacy.

Yesterday I posted a few Fords based on their connection to Aston Martin. But I neglected to mention that during their buying spree of the Nineties, Ford also took (limited or full) control over Jaguar, Volvo, Mazda, Aston Martin, Land Rover as well as its own Ford, Lincoln and Mercury (now discontinued). Of course many of us know that in the Sixties, Ford tried to get hold of Ferrari, but Fiat got Ferrari instead.

Our intent this morning was to take a quiet walk on the beach. The car theme emerged organically, due to the only parking spot I could find.

"Pretty Brave!" I thought, parking this Ferrari on the street, until I saw his flat rear tire.

We took the water's edge access path to the bay, where it looked pretty quiet, except for the constant flow of walkers, runners, skateboarders, dogs, and the ever-talking, mobile-phone equipped women.

I saw some action on the sand, and took a long shot. Nothing to see, except a bunch of heavy guys who don't normally spend their morning on the sand. And they don't look like they are afraid of Covid.
so why are they standing 6 feet apart? Who's being arrested? Who drowned? Questions, questions.

We were being pulled closer and closer by the mystery, drawn like mosquitos to a flame...

Ah, now that's a novel parking place! Apparently Joe Blow & Wife were having a few breakfast cocktails in the FORD Mustang, and he took a wrong turn while admiring the bay.

Spectators on land and sea, having a great time, speculating, while a policewoman is pushing us all back.

"Move along folks, nothing to see here, nothing to sea

Paddleboarders, conveniently situated, ignored her as the lifeguard went out and chained up the car. I had the long lens so kept shooting.

Lifeguard hooked up the car while the stocky tow truck drivers watched and shouted advice from dry land.

Beach tractor driver was having the time of his life pulling them out.

Steering wheel was locked but that didn't hinder the Cat, and as the tow truck driver noted "It's a total for sure, so don't worry about hurting it".

A few hundred yards and there’s a driveway from the ZLAC rowing club which provides access to the street. They must have come into the bay this way.

Policewoman kept repeating, "Move along, nothing to see" but she wasn't looking in the direction I was.

There were plenty of backsides to this story today ...

We moved and took a bird photo.

Obligatory foliage shot.

And we saw Fords everywhere after we left the shore and walked back to our car and the Ferrari.

Ford owned Jaguar, remember? Happily, my wife was wearing her Leaper shirt (from one of my Brown's Lane visits years and years ago)

She used to drive one of these 15-passenger vans for her college cross-country team, until they were banned (by the insurance company) for being too tipsy when loaded with people and gear.

I think this is a Ford Mondeo, oops I mean a genuine Jaguar.

Maybe I should say, THIS is a genuine Jaguar. Or is it half-Aston?

Ford owned Volvo for awhile too. Sorry for the fuzzy shot, I just couldn't believe the owner of this XC put a real winch into the front bumper!

Some REAL Ford Broncos which have become VERY popular in SoCal.

Is this a Lincoln, or a Mondeo/Jaguar/Lincoln/Taurus? At one time I knew all the derivative models but I have forgotten as my brain filled up with more important knowledge. Like 7750s and derivatives… or Unitas movements and all the derivatives

A deluded Insect looking to get some nectar off the Ferrari, has to settle for water.

Hey, It's over here!

I might have been blocking his view of the flower.

As we drove home we saw this Ford Van, providing both overnight housing and artistic expression.

Another Ford Brick, but this time an aftermarket 4x4.

The neighborhood washer/drier hauling-away "stake side" Ford pickup.

And Finally the Ford Finale (that's not a real Ford model name)

Front Crush Zone? Your Hoka shoes.

Thanks for cruising with us today.

The US National Highway & Safety Administration says: Whether to drive children to daycare, older people to senior citizen events, athletic teams to sporting events, employees to work,, or teenagers to youth programs, 15-passenger vans are prevalent on our nation’s roads. While a 15-passenger van is convenient, it does not drive like a minivan. Drivers and passengers must use caution to minimize the risks associated with these vehicles, and drivers need to take the following safety precautio

I used to have one, that exact vintage and color.... The backside story was likewise plump with visual acuity xD, and the fleet of random cars you always manage to encounter is perpetually fascinating . Cheers, have a good week Mike, Filip

Great story and shots as always 😊👍🏻 Only one thing - the S-Type shared a platform with the Lincoln LS and the Ford Thunderbird (the J Mays reissue). Mondeo was I believe the basis for the X Type (smaller and FWD / AWD). And the Mondeo V6, doubled was the basis for the first modern Aston Martin V12, while the original platform came from the Jaguar XJS, just like the first XK8 / XKR 😊 Recycling old bits and bobs 😉🤷🏻‍♂️

I forgot to include the Mazda B2000 Pickup with Recaro seats, T-handle shifter and extremely dirty windows. Mazda was under partial Ford ownership for awhile...

As I say, I have forgotten more than I remember about those models. At that time I was working/consulting with another company that made special tools for the OEMs, which though expensive would reduce the labor time for repairs. We had offices up in Essex near the Ford plant, and in Dearborn. So we didn't care much about the brand labels on the cars, only about their mechanical underpinnings. I've had a Jaguar a Lincoln, and Volvos galore, but bought only one Ford (and not very nice one). Wait,
