Dear Fellows,

During this month, every saturday morning, i attend an introductory class to watchmaking. Yeahhhhh smile
Yesterday, i put my hands on an ETA 6498. I disassembled the movement, then reassembled it.
Disassembling was not difficult, but reassembling was, for me, a different story...

Here are a few pictures showing the process of disassembling (sorry for the quality of the pictures, they were taken with my smartphone).

All tools are ready, i can start disassembling...

First, let down the Mainspring. Then remove the balance cock.

The balance cock

The geartrain.

The pallets. Easy to remove but it gave me such a hard time when i reassembled the movement...

The escapement wheel.

Let's keep going...There is still some job to do...

The bridge side is almost done

Let's start the dial side...

Dial side clean

Bridge side clean

Et voilà ! The easiest part is done.

I don't have pictures of the reassembling process as i was a bit late compared to the other participants.
I had a good and funny time and i wish next saturday could be now smile

Next week, i'll do this job one more time (disassembling and reassembling).

Thank you for watching.

Have a great sunday.
Fabio

Loads of fun...

And lots of patience and self control. My lack of patience leads to the lost of the spring lever...Hopefully, i found it after 5 minutes. Best regards Fabio

I was exactly in the same case. First to disassemble, last to re assemble.

And the same issue with the pallet! ;) But how good is that. Thanks for the post, Fabio. Nicolas
