Mahesh's detailed review of the Luca Soprano watch, featuring the legendary Derek Pratt DP-07 movement, offers WatchProSite readers a rare glimpse into independent haute horlogerie. His post highlights the intricate balance between dial aesthetics and mechanical mastery, prompting a fascinating discussion on attribution and design legacy within the watchmaking community. This article explores the nuances of a timepiece where the movement's designer is as celebrated as the watchmaker who brought it to fruition.

Recently I saw this marvel...since then I'm on an endless dilemma just to decides is it the dial or the movement that is attractive !

this example is made by Luca Soprano for Perpetual Gallery.

Grained salmon dial is sublime, refined & spot on ! The hands are 3 dimensional, a flat face on top and chamfers on the side (couldn't capture on the iPhone picture)

Now the movement...damn where do I start ?!

the movement designed by the LEGEND....Derek Pratt ! DP-07 is 38mm with a PR of 36 hours - definitely I would have preferred a bit more of juice but the best side of this, the pleasure of winding this every day !

twin flying barrel, remontoire and the frost finish just elevates the architecture.

On the wrist, it sits well and the 42mm x 12,6mm case on 316L steel has substantial presence on the wrist...

Hope you guys enjoy it.

Best,
mahesh.,

And I really like this dial more than the Shapiro one. I didn't realize it was only 38mm.

...if I loved it I would buy it. Power reserve not great but not a deal breaker for me...
