Clueless_Collector sparks a lively debate on the enduring relevance of Daylight Saving Time, questioning its purported energy conservation benefits in a modern world. His post, humorously titled 'Not your expected “Blue Latex Gloves”…Daylight Savings Time…is it necessary?', invites the WatchProSite community to consider the practical implications and historical rationale behind this biannual time shift. The discussion delves into the personal inconveniences and broader societal impacts, offering a unique horological perspective on a global practice.

Some places in different countries had to adjust their time by 1hr in Spring (today) and then roll back in Fall/Autumn. Here in USA we remember by saying Spring forward (+1 hr) and the Fall back (-1 hr).

I read this is for energy conservation purposes?

To me, this claim is highly debatable and with so many people living a different lifestyle, set their thermostats differently, drive their cars of different engines, public transport systems…the variation and error is too big to make any difference with the 1hr adjustment.

One thing for sure, it can cause harm to our finger and thumb…so DST is Damn Sore Thumb day!

Luckily I’m protected, by not the infamous WPS Blue Latex gloves.

Nice post and I know what you mean!

In the UK we will be losing 1 hour on the 26th March. The bright side is mornings do become, brighter for longer! 😆

Loosing or gaining it back is so confusing, right? Like paying with left or right pocket 😵‍💫

I wonder what happens to flight departure/arrival times if booking travels on those days? Yes, longer days are great 🙌🏻👍🏻

That's the problem when you have too many watches to wind. But a pleasant problem to have.

Or leave them unwind and only wind the ones to wear for coming week…

I planned to wear these for the next 2 weeks and after setting them properly to the exact seconds, the nightly news reminded me to change the clock 🤬😭
