MTF initiates a captivating new series, 'Once upon a time in....,' inviting the community to collaboratively weave a fictional narrative around a set of Chopard watches. This inaugural installment, set in Kowloon, presents a mysterious crime scene, challenging readers to identify the watches and continue the unfolding story. It's a unique blend of horology and creative storytelling, fostering community engagement.

Detective Won Hung Lo fought back the bile in his throat as he took in the scene. After twenty-two years on the job, he still reacted badly to the signs of death. All the signs were there, ostensibly laid out like some macabre plot from a cheap crime novel. Except this was real and on his patch - Kowloon harbour front.
The typhoon had just abated and Hong Kong life was just returning to normal, if you could ever call what goes on in Hong Kong normal. With 7.2 million souls squeezed into 426 square miles, this was the ideal city for a pot boiler plot. The call out to the 'Inn of Eternal Happiness' was just before midnight. A histrionic maid discovered the scene now laid before him.
A brightly lit room with only a round table in the middle. No chairs. The five Chopard watches arranged like a montage on the table amidst the remnants of a meal....maybe braised wagyu beef cheeks in truffle sauce. On the carpet around the table lay five pairs of mens' shoes at exactly 72° segmental angles from each other. Berluti, Church's, John Lobb, New & Lingwood, and Crockett & Jones...hmm....what? Nobody likes Italian shoes anymore?
The waiter's body laid face up under the table with a sardonic rictus evident. Poisoned? Then, stabbed in the throat with a Laguiole steak knife. He still had his shoes on....cheap Bata brand.
Were there 5 other occupants and why did they leave their shoes behind?
More importantly, what was the significance of the 5 Chopard watches? Won Hung Lo would need the help of watch aficionados to identify them.......

Detective Won Hung Low was on the trail like a truffle pig rutting in the forest. There was certainly truffles in the thickening sauce but was that just a red herring? He could identify the grey dial LUC 1937 chronometer, LUC Tech Regulator and LUC Chrono One on the bottom row but the two watches on the top row were unfamiliar to him. On his measly detective's pay, there was little chance of familiarity with such 'haute horlogerie' - a phrase he had gleaned on the "Interweb" using his trusty Sam
