Now is the time again for the newest Chopard Superfast debut and the collaboration event with Porsche here in Tokyo.

Most are Porsche clients and they are here for the new models debut.

And here is the Chopard booth and seemed really busy all day.  Car lover=watch lover?  It is a nice combination, collaboration.

Do you know how these two brands were connected?

The answer: Jacky Ickx.  Jacky Ickx is a legendary racing drive (and my hero, too) who is very important to Porsche legend in the racing scene.  At the same time, Jacky Ickx has been a good friend of Mr. Karl Friedrich Scheufele.

And here is the latest Chopard Superfast Porsche 919 Black Edition in the showcase.

Titanium Case (DLC Coating)
Automatic Caliber Chopart 3.05-M
COSC Chrnometer
60 hours of Power Reserve
Water resistant to 100m
Diameter 45mm
Thickness 15.16mm
Limited Edition of 100

And on my smallish wrist.

LE of 100.  For allocation to Japan, most have been spoken for and there are only few left already......

Maybe a bit big for weekday use, but I wouldn't mind wearing on weekend, especially in the circuit!

This year's 919 (mock-up model) - which won Le Mans last month.

From the outside, a bit blacker, grayish, than the last year version.

This is the LAST YEAR version.  What changed inside - I don't know yet....

Superfast?  Super cool!
I am soooo sad that I already know that I cannot go see this year's Fuji Speedway race - my business trip schedule includes that important weekend... :-(

Many people want to try to sit in the drivers' seat.....

Thank you, Porsche Japan, and Chopard Japan!

Ken

Thank for the review.

The side shot teveals how thick the watch really is. Looks like it fit your wrist. Bill

Looks like this inside

Ken Thanks for the Tokyo update. Porsche is very popular in Japan as I discovered every Sunday when sports cars were cruising through my neighbourhood to Meguro, Daikanyama and Ebisu. The inside of the Porsche race car may look like this... Romain Dumas in the seat with Chopard watch Regards, MTF

Nice looking but . . .

. . . quite thick and well into my "no go" zone of 14 mm max thickness. Over the years I've become allergic to these thick watches, but they're likely in the sweet spot for the younger crowd (I'm 60). The other Chopard in your pic continues to grow on me. It's different in a quite cool way. M4

M4, it is a really thick watch, but for what it is worth, it is really comfortable.

I have tried it on many times (not this version), and it is tempting despite it\'s girth! Best, CaliforniaJed

Thanks for this report!

The chrono looks great but the twin shot with your 8HF just produces a clear ranking for me (and the Porsche does not win that one). Too large at a time of diminishing sizes. The 8HF is simply perfect

Black and red is truly something we keep on finding in the Chopard collection

Thank you for your post Ken. It seems like Chopard and Porsche make a good partnership. Related to the mock-up model, the same was seen in front of the Porsche shop in Le Mans this year. But I guess the advanced lights of the true model 2016 reveal the truth: Kind regards, kolosstt
