KMII shares a collection of wristshots taken during an intensive four-week business trip through European ski resorts, highlighting how watches provided a 'balm for the soul' amidst a demanding schedule. Despite being unable to ski, KMII captured his Chopard LUC Chrono One, Chopard LUC Sport, Seiko SRPA21 Turtle PADI, and Seiko Presage SRQ019 against stunning snowy backdrops, demonstrating their versatility and resilience.

You may have noticed my relative absence here in the last couple of weeks. I have had some pretty important work committments, which had me away from home for a long period of time, and the 17h plus work days did not allow for much spare time.

Now if one looks at the locations - ski resorts in Austria, Switzerland and Norway - four weeks there sounds like heaven. Sadly not if your only contact is occassionally stealing a look at the slopes from the meeting room wink

In any case, I at least managed to snap some watch pictures, so in no particular order, a short photo journey.

Starting with Austria. Picture perfect weather for most of the time, and plenty of snow, too... The ray of sunshine pointing directly at the Chopard LUC Chrono One wink

Here's one from Norway. As demonstrated in another thread (here:  wink, the Seiko SRPA21 - the Turtle PADI - is truly worthy of its Prospex name - in freezing conditions as well as underwater smile

Some more of Austria. After plenty of sunshine and partially temperatures, where one could already dine outside without a jacket / coat (in February at over 1000m above sea level), it's no wonder that there's less snow visible. The Chopard LUC Sport was an excellent companion - versatile enough to be used both with more formal attire and to brave anything a snowy landscape could throw at it. I have already written to Santa for a re-issue wink

Another country, another Chopard. This time in Switzerland, with the trusty LUC Chrono One. Here too the slopes were only to be admired from afar. From what the local colleagues said, it was one of the weakest skiing seasons in decades, so maybe I should feel less bad about it?

Last but not least, the hot fired enamel dial of the Seiko Presage SRQ019 on a bed of cool snow in Austria. With more casual attire the size is not at all a problem and the watch is quite nice - definitely growing on me with every wear.  If there were not so many watches on the wishlist, I would have looked for an Urushi to complement it...

Given the tasking schedule, stealing a couple of minutes a day for the odd watch shot was a real balm for the soul. Actually I am discussing with myself if another watch - as compensation - would not be the right way to get over it all wink

About the Horological Meandering Seiko Presage Ref. SRQ019

The Seiko Presage SRQ019 is a limited edition chronograph model, part of the Presage line known for its mechanical watchmaking and traditional Japanese aesthetics. This particular reference stands out with its specific dial treatment and case finishing, distinguishing it from other Presage chronographs. It was released as a special edition, emphasizing Seiko's commitment to offering refined mechanical chronographs within its more accessible collections. The design cues often draw inspiration from historical Seiko timepieces, reinterpreting them with modern manufacturing techniques.

This model features a stainless steel case, housing an automatic chronograph movement. The case diameter is 42mm, providing a contemporary wrist presence while maintaining wearability. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal, offering scratch resistance and clarity over the dial. The movement provides a power reserve of approximately 45 hours, a standard duration for many automatic calibers in this segment. The construction ensures a water resistance suitable for daily wear.

The SRQ019 appeals to collectors interested in mechanical chronographs with a distinct design language and a strong value proposition. Its limited edition status contributes to its collectibility. The watch often features intricate dial work, such as multi-layered subdials or specific textures, which are hallmarks of the Presage series. It represents a segment of Seiko's production that bridges everyday wearability with enthusiast-level finishing and mechanical complexity.
