The Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph French Limited Edition makes its debut at @Retromobile_Paris — a 100-piece edition in Lucent Steel™, combining chronometric precision, retro design and the competitive spirit of the legendary Mille Miglia.

If only that damn date wasn't there...😞

About the Chopard Mille Miglia Ref. 168589-3001

The Chopard Mille Miglia collection represents the Swiss manufacture's deep connection to automotive racing, born from co-president Karl-Friedrich Scheufele's passion for the legendary Italian endurance race. Since 1988, Chopard has served as the official timekeeper for the Mille Miglia, transforming this partnership into one of horology's most authentic racing-themed collections. The series draws direct inspiration from classic automotive design elements, creating timepieces that genuinely reflect motorsport heritage rather than merely appropriating its aesthetic.

This chronograph showcases Chopard's technical prowess through its certified chronometer movement, likely housing the manufacture L.U.C caliber with its sophisticated architecture. The dial's layout mirrors automotive instrumentation, with subsidiary registers positioned like dashboard gauges and a tachymeter scale enabling speed calculations. The blue rubber strap features a distinctive tire-tread pattern, directly referencing racing rubber while providing modern wearing comfort. The case construction balances robustness with elegance, reflecting the dual nature of grand touring automobiles.

Within the contemporary luxury sports watch market, the Mille Miglia occupies a distinctive position as a racing timepiece with legitimate motorsport provenance. While not achieving the speculative heights of certain competitors, these watches maintain steady collector interest due to Chopard's continued involvement in classic car events and the brand's manufacturing credentials. The combination of Swiss chronometer certification and authentic racing heritage provides substance beyond surface aesthetics, appealing to both automotive enthusiasts and serious watch collectors seeking pieces with genuine sporting connections.

You guys both nail it. Unfortunately, it has stopped me on several of these MM models over the years. They just have to jam that date in there.

Too bad, because a lot of the other dial detailing is fantastic, and alluring.

Just because you didn't, it doesn't mean that others won't notice it. I always notice every mal placed date before anything else.

It's like a sore thumb. Try to ignore that if you can.
