I was fortunate to be invited to the final session of WEC 2015 6th race in Fuji International Speedway in Japan.
I admit that I have been a fan of motor sport since I was very little.  The first one that I remember was F1 at Fuji (which my dad was watching on TV), and I remember the announcer saying "James Hunt!'.  I'm not sure of the result, but that was my first race watching.  Since then, I studied F1, Endurance including 24 Heures du Mans, and such.  But after I started working, it was pushed back from my hobby line-up.  It has been a long time dream to watch the race at a circuit, with my own eyes.

As you may know, there are many circuits where many great drivers lost their lives and thinking of those places still would bring tears to my eyes.  That said, going to Fuji Speedway, where it all started for me is something very special - once in a lifetime (I hope not!) "a dream comes true" experience.

I will divide the sections to three as following, and I hope you don't get bored by my as-usual lengthy report.

1. About the WEC race

2. Welcome dinner, surprise guests + short interviews

3. Final Session at Fuji with lots of photos, and watches.

I hope you enjoy the report as I did at the Fuji Speedway.

Best,
Ken

1. About WEC Race.

First comes first - WEC 101. According to Mr. Marc Vandalen working for Chopard and in charge of its sponsorship for Porsche WEC team. He said at the lecture before the dinner, "I want to introduce you to the world of racing. A bit different from other races. There are two world-wide famous championships. The first one, everybody knows: is Formula 1. What is Formula 1? : 19 races per year, only one driver per car, and sprint or short race.. Permitted limit of the weight of the machine is 750kg a

2. Welcome Dinner, surprise guests and short interviews.

The welcome reception and nice dinner reception was held at the nearby Prince Hotel. Several VIP were present and Marc explained a bit about Porsche partnership as well as about the race (see previous post), and Thomas Dobeli (the new President of Chopard Japan) and Chopard Geneva team and Chopard Japan team played excellent host roles. Very impressive. Welcome booth at the hotel lobby. And we all signed the paper that says "I will not take any photos in the garage", and something like that. In

3. Final Session (lots of photos) and watches!

Disclaimer: all the photos are taken by me, so please pardon if the quality is not up there Yes, we all wore the "uniform". The hospitality lounge building. Porsche lounge inside. Before starting. Fans flocked the tents in front of the pits/ garages. In the Lounge, up-to-date information of the race is displayed with the live feed. Now in the lounge are THE Watches! Again, the one Brendon was wearing previous night - looks better and better now. The same one as Romain Dumas is wearing. Superfast

Thanks Bill.

Great experience to watch the race "there". Now I understand more about the races and my interest for the motor sports was re-ignited Ken

I can vouch for the Chopard watches actually being raced

Thanks Ken for the LIVE report from Fuji Speedway. At least, I think it was Fuji but Mount Fuji was hiding?!? I can vouch for Romain wearing his Chopard watch during the races...
