Unlike for some members, where more snow is forecast for the coming days, here it seems to all be going in one direction only - melting away πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

So figured it would be good to get some final seasonal shots made and it was the turn of the Chopard LUC Chrono One today. My first serious watch, acquired in 2014 and the last watch that was a daily wear (before the larger quantity made the concept obsolete in our household).

While nowadays I would say the lugs of this first generation model are a smidgeon too long for me it’s still a very comfortable piece and one of the most legible watches I have.

And it has some great features, like the ability to reset the running seconds to zero while setting the time (via the chrono reset pusher).

Any other Chopards out?

About the Chopard L.U.C Chrono One Ref. 168538-3002

The Chopard L.U.C Chrono One, introduced around 2007, represents a significant milestone in Chopard's journey into high horology. As part of the esteemed L.U.C collection, established by Karl-Friedrich Scheufele in 1996, this chronograph demonstrated the manufacture's ambition and capability to produce complex, in-house movements. It positioned Chopard not merely as a jeweler but as a serious contender in the realm of traditional watchmaking, building upon the foundation of earlier L.U.C calibers that had already garnered critical acclaim for their precision and finishing.

Technically, the L.U.C Chrono One is powered by the integrated L.U.C 11CF automatic flyback chronograph movement. This caliber is COSC-certified, ensuring chronometric precision, and features a column wheel and vertical clutch for smooth and precise chronograph operation. The dial presents a balanced bi-compax layout with a 12-hour counter at 9 o'clock and a 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock, complemented by a subtle running seconds sub-dial at 6 o'clock and a date aperture at 4:30. The dauphine hands, applied numerals, and refined finishing of the blue dial underscore the L.U.C collection's commitment to understated elegance and legibility.

For collectors, the L.U.C Chrono One holds a distinct appeal due to its in-house movement, high level of finishing, and relative rarity compared to chronographs from more ubiquitous brands. It offers a compelling value proposition within the luxury chronograph segment, appealing to those who appreciate technical sophistication and traditional craftsmanship without overt branding. Its position within the L.U.C line solidifies its status as a serious horological instrument, making it a noteworthy piece for discerning enthusiasts seeking a blend of performance and refined aesthetics.
