MTF reports on Chopard's presence at SalonQP 2015, where the brand showcased its L.U.C astronomical and calendar-related timepieces. The article highlights Chopard's commitment to haute horology, featuring various L.U.C models and offering a glimpse into the intricate handcraft involved in their movements.
At SalonQP 2015, Chopard had a theme directive from headquarters...
The first L.U.Chopard astronomical timepiece that I recall was the award-winning L.U.C Lunar One introduced in 2006. It won the PuristSPro Purity Prize in 2009.
Since then, the astronomical and calendar-related genre has included the L.U.C Lunar One Mk II, L.U.C Lunar Twin, L.U.C Lunar Big Date and L.U.C Perpetual T.
Some astronomic prototypes never made it to full production and sales.
Look at the star charts displayed accurately by L.U.C.
Here on the Lunar Twin are those for the Northern or Southern hemisphere glittering seductively under the display lights.
The current epitome of the L.U.C astronomical range is the Perpetual T with its legible Day, Date and Month indicators.
The tourbillon view is at the expense of the moonphase display that usually occupies that space on Chopard perpetual calendar dials.
Discussing how to manage the expected visitors to the Chopard displays.
Chopard had one of the biggest display areas at SalonQP.
The drawings behind show the heart of the astronomical and calendar movement for the L.U.C Lunar One.
Some display cases attracted more PuristS visitors than others.
Finally, a few timepieces for fellow PuristS member Moritz a.k.a. Count de Monet who had difficulty finding the best Chopard pieces to look at.
These were kept at SalonQP in case he attended the exhibition.
They were is a safe and secure place but I took a few photographs anyway.
This particular L.U.C 1963 Chrono PuristS Edition watch is not for sale
but a few may still be available from Chopard Boutiques.
It's black dial complements nicely the white watch like "ebony and ivory".
"Ebony and ivory live together in perfect harmony
Side by side on my piano keyboard, oh Lord, why don't we?" - Paul McCartney
Don't forget to see the Dancing Diamonds sandwiched between two sheets of sapphire crystal above the dial.
Mesmerising.
Mamma Mia!
This is one scintillating timepiece.....
I had my softest sleeve on that day and it did not snag on the cloth....perfect gem setting.

MTF
for this post and pictures. A shame I could not make it to the exhibition but at least I know where this outstanding pieces could be admired alternatively. I love jewellery and the combination with watchmaking and Chopard is certainly a master of this art if not the master. Lovely, lovely last pieces ! Cordially Moritz
Moritz, The invitation from Chopard still valid for future visits to any of their major boutiques. Just give a little notice so they can move stuff to your chosen boutique. Hint: If you choose one of their Flagship or Red Carpet Boutiques, there is no need to move inventory as there is where the good pieces live! Regards, MTF
thanks for your report MTF, the Lunar topic is really tempting as I see these as truly nice pieces. One thought to keep for future acquisitions. Cheers, Kolosstt
I am Evil. I am Bad. I am Nemesis. L.U.C Lunar One Mk II
