I just bought this Co-branded DS and I am thoroughly impressed!

Nice size at 36mm and it has a great presence on the wrist. One thing you immediately notice is the perceived heft of this thing when you compare it to a Rolex Oyster 6426. Sure, it is 2mm larger but it "feels" much less delicate and REALLY solid and bulletproof!

Still has its original crown and the silver dial has gracefully aged to a sublime Champagne tone.

Gotta love that turtle...

At its time it must have been one of the most robust watches available with its "floating" movement suspension and rubber cushioning inside. Like the G-Shock of the 50s/60s - this thing was designed and tested to survive drops from up to 6m.

While I think the linen dial on the Rolex 6426 is maybe a bit nicer and the Certina 25-661 Inhouse-movement also has its flaws with the weak and prone-to-failure date change wheel I am thoroughly impressed. I would even rate the quality of the Huguenin Freres case from the Certina above the comparably simple and plain Rolex Oyster case for about 1/10 of the Rolex's market value. What do you think?

Could not agree more, Vintage Certinas are certainly underrated ! Top quality movements at a very low price, here is a glimpse of my collection:

Certina DS Automatic (cal. 25-651) DS 2 Manual wound (cal. 25-66) DS 288 Certidate (HF Cal. 25-671) Cal. 25-66 you can see the yellow rubber ”shock absorber" Ref. 201 from 1956 Cal. 324

A great collection you have there!

In fact I am quite happy that these old Certinas are flying a bit under the radar. Keeps the prices on sane levels...
