Sham1 takes readers on a whirlwind tour of Cartier's latest releases and a personal dilemma. His post captures the excitement and occasional ambivalence of high-end watch collecting, particularly when faced with highly anticipated pieces like the platinum Tank Cintrée, the new Tonneau, and the exclusive London Crash. Sham1's candid reflections offer valuable insights into the emotional connection collectors form with their watches.
Hopefully it will be one I will stick to

The Wempe Tonneau represents the brand's entry in the shaped watch category, distinguished by its tonneau case configuration within the Chronometerwerke series. This reference demonstrates Wempe's approach to classical case forms with contemporary manufacturing standards.
The 40mm steel case houses the manual-wind Caliber CW3 movement, offering a power reserve of 38-45 hours. The watch features a white dial beneath sapphire crystal protection, with a fixed bezel and leather strap configuration. Water resistance is rated to 30 meters.
This reference appeals to collectors seeking shaped case alternatives from independent German watchmaking. The manual-wind movement and tonneau case form position it as a dress-oriented piece within Wempe's contemporary catalog. Production commenced in 2018 and continues presently, making it readily available in the current market.
Tank Normale Original Cintree here to make a qualified opinion on the over-pronounced glare.
You did the right thing imho . Allways follow your instinkt and feelings . Otherwise you will end up with a watch that dosnt give you a great satisfaction after a while . I know we all had that problem at some point with a watch in our collection . I know i did 😉
As I always say when there is a doubt there is no doubt=don’t do it or at least not in a hurry. Take the time to think it over and the right decision will come on its own... one day... or maybe not 😉 but take the time it is not a race. The wonderful ones you already have are awesome and must be fully appreciated. Thus each potential new one must make some sense in your collection or make you crazy and full of desire. Here I am not sure any of the three does match these criteria if I may say it..
But personally I think Cintree is the best looking, with contrasting brushed and polishing finis, and that red crown. The tonneau is abit feminine, the crash more so. Go with your heart. Let us know
possibly thanks to my feminine nature! That Tank Normale looks magnificent!!
And thank goodness I made that exact mistake with the Moser!! Hopefully not with the Lang & Heyne!!! And yes meeting up with you was one of my SIHH highlights.
