Andy_Mac's exploration of the Cartier Tank Obus offers a compelling look at a nuanced reference often overlooked. His initial impressions highlight the watch's captivating dial dynamics and the unexpected pleasure it brings to daily wear. This article delves into the subtle details that make the Tank Obus a fascinating subject for collectors, particularly its movement and aesthetic variations.

I could do without ‘mecanique’ on the dial, but I’m enjoying this little Tank Obus more than I thought I would. The dial is constantly changing in different light situations and I find myself looking at it a lot. Usually a good sign. The movement is based on the Piaget 430P. Have a great week everyone 👊

I had the opportunity to try on a Ballon Bleu this weekend. I'm always surprised at how much I like Cartier on the wrist. Unfortunately no pic...and no purchase. The CNG Aquamatic will have to suffice.

…there are also some examples with a CPCP dial.. I don’t think they were sold concurrently but my Cartier knowledge is limited on that point. Thinking about it, I’ll try and find some old Cartier ads/catalogues from that era to be more precise. Cheers, Andy

I was just looking at some different strap colour options too…maybe blue, burgundy or something more outlandish. Still musing 🤔 on that one. 👊🍻

How is the backside? Solid caseback or nice movement?

It was a serendipitous internet find.
