Based on these photos, I think yellow gold appeals to me the most.

What about you?

About the Cartier Tank à Guichets

The Tank à Guichets represents a fascinating chapter in Cartier's horological narrative, building upon the legendary Tank foundation established in 1917. This contemporary interpretation transforms the classic Tank silhouette into a jumping hour display mechanism, where time is revealed through apertures rather than traditional hands. The model maintains the essential DNA of Louis Cartier's original military-inspired design while incorporating the technical complexity of a digital-style time display within an analog framework.

The technical execution centers on a jumping hour mechanism with retrograde minutes, displayed through carefully positioned windows on the dial. Each case appears to feature precious metal construction with distinctive finishes - rose gold, yellow gold, and what appears to be white gold or platinum variants. The croc-embossed leather straps in coordinating colors demonstrate Cartier's attention to comprehensive design language, where every element serves both functional and aesthetic purposes. The rectangular case proportions remain faithful to Tank heritage while accommodating the specialized movement architecture required for the guichet complication.

As a 2025 release, the Tank à Guichets positions itself within Cartier's strategy of reinterpreting historical complications for contemporary collectors. The multiple metal options suggest Cartier's confidence in market appetite for alternatives to their core Tank offerings. For collectors, this represents an opportunity to own a Tank with genuine horological complexity beyond simple time display, likely targeting enthusiasts who appreciate both Cartier's design legacy and mechanical innovation within the accessible luxury segment.

I would choose the rose gold model

because it would blend with my skin tone the best. Saying that, allocation is near impossible despite all my efforts trying to charm my sales person at Cartier!

That's sad to hear, but a bit predictable for such an iconic model, unfortunately...
