In a community often focused on mechanical horology, sham1 challenges conventional wisdom by celebrating a quartz Cartier Tank. His post highlights how exceptional design and wearability can transcend movement type, making a compelling case for a watch that has become one of Cartier's most sought-after models. This discussion explores the nuanced appeal of quartz in luxury watches, particularly when design is paramount.

Like most of us, I too love mechanical watches but I could not resist purchasing this Cartier tank which only comes with a quartz movement.  For many, that would be a big no no but for me, it is the dial that matters most on a watch followed by the comfort on the wrist and this black dial Cartier ticks those two boxes with relative ease.

The fact that this is probably one of the most sought after Cartier tanks in recent years is testament that the design team got this spot on.  Yes a manual winding movement would have been even better arguably but it would also have meant that the popularity of this watch would increase even further making it almost unattainable.

I am very much a collector of dress watches and I dare say that this Cartier tank is arguably the most elegant of my watches.  It the perfect example of when 'less is more'!  Thank you for reading.

The visual flow from strap to dial to strap is almost unbroken... well integrated. Great watch!

I actually prefer this version compared to the earlier red, blue and green models.

This design just keeps looking better and better. The long life “High Autonomy” quartz movement has a battery life of approximately six to eight years making this movement better for the owner and the environment. Enjoy !

Even for a pretty convinced ‘horological purist’ like me, it was a no brainer to make an exception for a quartz Cartier — especially for such an elegant yet fun and versatile piece….I’m sure you’ll thoroughly enjoy it my friend!👍🥂 Twins😄 Mine Hers😄

For a quartz watch it was not easy to source so obtaining one is an added delight!
