SJX introduces Cartier's captivating short film, "L'Odyssée de Cartier," a visual journey through the brand's rich history and cultural inspirations. This film is notable for its use of real animals and the clever integration of numerous historical details, including significant watches from Cartier's Collection Privée Cartier Paris (CPCP). SJX highlights how this three-and-a-half-minute production masterfully condenses a wealth of information, making it a compelling watch for enthusiasts to discover Cartier's heritage.

Cartier has just premiered the brilliant short film L'Odyssée de Cartier. As the title suggests it takes the viewer on a journey through Cartier's history, led by the creature synonymous with Cartier, the panther. Interestingly all the animals (save the dragon of course) in the film are real, none of them are computer generated.

Numerous details (including one of my favourite watches from the CPCP) from Cartier's history are visible in the film if you look carefully. Cartier's key cultural inspirations for its creations are depicted, as are important designs from across its history. An incredible amount of information has been cleverly packed into three and a half minutes of film.

This is well worth watching.

If the film went by too quickly, here are screen captures of several important scenes. - SJX This message has been edited by SJX on 2012-03-02 20:19:41

I do believe I know the underlying history to all the major references. The film pays homage to: Panther starts off within the Opera house, presumably. Cartier's history in Russia. Cartier's history in India. Cartier's historical creations of a jeweled menagerie, particularly the alligator and peacock(my personal favorites). The one with the airplane signifies Cartier's importance in America? I'm surprised that there is no mention of Cartier's involvement with the blue Hope diamond. Did I miss a

You got most of it. But I'm not telling otherwise it takes the fun out of watching the clip. The Hope Diamond is more closely associated with Harry Winston, he famously mailed it via USPS, so probably Cartier left it out for that reason. - SJX

A few days ago Cartier held a preview screening for the media in Singapore at the posh St Regis hotel. Although it was only the screening for a 3:30 long film, it was a top class event as Cartier events always are. - SJX Lining one wall were beautiful prints illustrating scenes from L'Odyssée de Cartier Managing Director of Cartier SE Asia and Australia Christopher Kilaniotis making his introductory speech

I think the white gold, yellow gold and pink gold rings in the earlier part of the movie are a reference to their Trinity line of jewellery. And the plane is a reference to Cartier's "association" with aviator Santos-Dumont. Very well done. Regards, Richard.
