Andrea~ embarks on a new horological journey, sharing her profound connection with Cartier and its iconic designs. Her post delves into the brand's unique ability to blend purity with flair, a philosophy that resonates deeply with her collecting ethos. This article explores why the Cartier Santos Medium became the perfect starting point for her burgeoning 'love affair' with the Parisian jeweler.

Here it is. After a period of indecisiveness, I was finally able to pick out my next watch. This is not just a purchase, but to me it signifies the start of my love affair with Cartier.

I believe that life is about discovering yourself through experience with the rest of the world. Growing means getting to know ourselves better.

(lovely gift from the AD included)

Cartier embodies this concept for me, as I've come to realise how much my taste aligns with what the brand has to offer. I am in love with iconic shapes like the Crash, the Louis, the Cintree, the Tortue and the Santos.

Purity and flare are two concepts that the brand manages to combine effortlessly. This sense of style and panache is what attracts me the most. As much as I admire complications, I tend to gravitate more towards simplicity, so Cartier was an obvious choice that I somehow managed to avoid for the few years I've been collecting.

For my first foray into the parisian jeweler's offerings, I have decided to go with something versatile and iconic: the Santos Medium. A somewhat obvious choice but still, in my opinion, a perfect way to introduce myself to the brand.

The size of this watch is perfect. Its proportions are a call back to a different era of taste that favored understatement and elegance over sheer visual impact. The bracelet could be a piece of jewelery by itself.

This will hopefully be the first of a long series of timepieces from the brand, and an occasion to learn more about its history.

While I haven't but one Cartier, I also chose the Santos among all the other wonderful models as my first. It's simple as you said, and also has that unmistakeable Cartier DNA and panache.

It fits you perfectly. I understand your attraction for Cartier. They keep being true to their rich history. I owned a Cartier Santos years ago, and some day I will buy Cartier again. Enjoy!

I have had only one from this brand (so far) and I can't recall what possibly made me give it up. Quite different from yours, but unmistakably Cartier. Enjoy the experience. Cazalea

I’ve always admired Cartier. Whatever it does, watches, jewellery, accessories, it has defined the word iconic.
