K-Lo's experience with his Bulgari Octo Finissimo Ceramic, detailing a repair journey to Switzerland, offers valuable insights into the practicalities of owning ultra-thin ceramic timepieces. His candid account highlights the delicate balance between cutting-edge design and everyday durability, a crucial consideration for collectors drawn to innovative materials and extreme thinness. K-Lo's reflections on the watch's construction and the nature of ceramic provide a real-world perspective on the compromises inherent in high-horology innovation.

Hello My Dear Purists - just providing you all with an update on my Ceramic Octo saga.

So it turns out the bracelet had to be fixed in Switzerland due to COVID, thanks again again again again COVID!

Gone since February, damn time flies, like seriously.

Anywho, I was told today that the fix was done and the watch is in transit!! Like two weeks maybe.

Lesson learned, be careful with ceramic!

Matte finish is the way to go, though, for supreme understated elegance. We can’t always opt for a polished and brushed finish, you know, traditional luxury style.

But for now, this ceramic piece will hold me over.

He is an upcoming singer client of mine that I do legal services for. So, you know, typical starving artist trying to make it? Maybe when he hits it big time.

I mean I used it on the elliptical and all but, I don’t know. Being stupid thin and ceramic maybe asks for trouble? It could be I have weird shaped wrists and maybe that causes continuous pressure on the ceramic balls, don’t laugh LOL, who knows. πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

When I first got the piece brand new, it was all wrapped in clear plastic. I started to take the clear plastic off, you know, from the case, and the bracelet and all of that. As is pealed the plastic off, I said to myself, like literally, that this case could just snap! The case is that thin, where you can break it as you take off the plastic!!!!!! So at that point I just went like super super careful taking off the plastic, after that I thought it was pretty durable. Thus, we are reminded again

The main thing is that the Bulgari designed this watch with a lot of sharp corners. The sharp corners are weaker. Rado watches have less sharp corners and some are rounded.

In my case though, I think the issue was pressure on the bracelet from my wrist, notwithstanding, the sharp corners. The bracelet consistently tugs/pulls on the ceramic balls which hold the bracelet secure against the case, after a while, I think that the balls gave after so much continued pressure and snapped. I never banged or nicked the piece against everything. So, I guess, that is the conclusion I came to.
