Nicolas (amanico) initiates a compelling comparison between two highly coveted Breguet Type XX Only Watch editions, the 2019 and 2021 models. His detailed observations highlight subtle yet significant design differences, prompting a deeper look into Breguet's modern interpretations of this iconic pilot's chronograph. This discussion is particularly relevant for collectors keen on understanding the nuances that define these limited-edition pieces and their connection to the Type 20's historical lineage.

We discussed the Type XX Only Watch 2019 several times, much more rarely the Only Watch 2021.

On the left, the 2019, and on the right, the 2021:

The 2021 alone:

On the 2021, I prefer -the bigger minute chrono counter, typical from the Type 20. But I prefer the crown on the 2019.

Two highly desirable watches which I'd love to see in a more generous production. 500 pieces, as a hint of the number of Aeronautique Navale produced and sold in 1960?

Best,

Nicolas

Great comparison, my friend. I share your view that the 2021’s larger minute counter is very faithful to the true Type 20 DNA — it just feels “right” at a glance. That said, the 2019 crown gives it a bit more character and charm.

But if I was fortunate enough to have a choice between the two it would be the 2019 as besides the nicer IMO crown I also prefer the bezel and the what to me looks like a better balanced dial. Marc

The purity of the design wins me over.

The 21 is a bit sportier maybe? Chunkier looking with a gmt bezel. I honestly don’t know which one I would choose, both have a place in a collection for me.
