I agree with you, I would expect somewhere around 37-38mm. That would have been perfect.

When a watch

has a white enamel dial and only one hand with a thin bezel, the manufacturer should be careful with ensuring the watch size stays within the 37 or 38mm diameter.

Although to Breguetโ€™s credit, the watch looks smaller than 40mm on the wrist.
