Here is a real horological beast / feast. The Double Tourbillon Quai de l'Horloge, ref 5345 PT ( for Platinum, as you should have probably guessed ).

Here we have a 46 mm big, 16, 80 mm ( ! ) high case which is pretty heavy, on the wrist, I must say.

The show is on the front side,

More than on the backside, even if this one is nicely decorated.

The strap is a bot weird, for such a watch, but quite cool. And the buckle is pure refinement.

But the proportions are quite impressive, and not so sure they are the best for this kind of masterpiece.

A pity, as it is really bewitching.

Best,

Nicolas

About the Breguet Classique Ref. 5345

The Breguet Classique Double Tourbillon Quai de l'Horloge, reference 5345, stands as a flagship complication within the brand's contemporary offerings, showcasing a highly theatrical horological display. It distinguishes itself by presenting two independent tourbillons on a rotating mainplate, which itself completes a full rotation every 12 hours, acting as the hour indicator.

This reference features a substantial 46mm platinum case with a fluted caseband, housing the manually wound Caliber 588N. The movement incorporates two tourbillon regulators, each with its own escapement and balance wheel, interconnected by a differential. The dial side is largely open-worked to reveal the intricate mechanics, including the hand-engraved bridges and plates, with a sapphire caseback offering a view of the finely finished movement components.

The 5345 is a significant piece for collectors interested in high-complication watches that push the boundaries of traditional horology. Its grand scale and complex, animated dial make it a statement piece, embodying Breguet's historical legacy of innovation in tourbillon design while presenting it in a modern, visually arresting format.

Breguet has impressive horological chops

This watch exemplifies the cream of the crop in terms of finishing and mechanical mastery. The obvious downsides are the bombastic thickness and diameter dimensions. It's unfortunate that the Swatch Group doesn't allow the brand to shine, because it can easily compete with the best of the best.

I agree that something around 14 mm high and 43 / 44 mm big would have been much more appealing. Thanks for your feedback, Andrea.

Amazing horological piece but simply too huge to be wearable unless you have a wrist like the Hulk 😜

It's an outstanding beauty making a huge wrist statement!

Smaller would have been more practical, yes, I agree. But it's the perfect size and dimensions to make a big wrist statement. I would love to have the chance to strap this one on and flaunt it around. Ha!
