Magic_jon shares his acquisition of the Breguet Ref. 7787 with a white enamel dial, driven by a desire for a moonphase complication, power reserve, and the historical artistry of enamel. His post initiates a discussion on the watch's accuracy and the broader appeal of Breguet's design and technical elements, particularly the use of silicon components.

Thanks to those purists who posted their info and pics of the 7787 white enamel, I could not resist buying this model.

Wanted a watch in my collection with a moonphase - with the seconds and also reserve de marche, and also enamel to complement the other Breguet in my collection which has guilloché.  So that was the ideal candidate.

My wrist is wuite small, hence i ordered a small-size strap from the AD.  While waiting for it, I am using a C. Fournet black strap in alligator - so for the purist who was wondering about how it would look like, these pics may be helpful a bit.

Last and not least, about accuracy/reliability.  This part is very important to me.  In the case of this watch, a key part of the movement is made of silicon, and i was curious about its timekeeping performance, esp. In the light of the 10Hz model released last/this year which talks much about the high accuracy/reliability of the material.

I am still testing the watch, as i bought it only a few days ago and it is still settling in.  When the performance is clearer in some time, i will make sure to share with you.  And would then also be interested to find out about your Breguet watch accuracies/reliability.

So long,  Jon.

About the Breguet Tradition Retrograde Seconds Ref. 7787

The Breguet Classique Moon Phases reference 7787 is a modern interpretation of Breguet's traditional aesthetic, featuring a prominent moon phase display and a small seconds sub-dial. This reference is characterized by its balanced dial layout and the brand's signature design elements, such as the fluted caseband and welded lugs. It represents Breguet's commitment to classical watchmaking, offering a refined complication within a contemporary case size. The watch is positioned as a dress watch, emphasizing legibility and traditional horological artistry. Its design is consistent with the Classique collection's focus on understated elegance and technical precision.

The 7787 is housed in an 18k rose gold case measuring 40 mm in diameter. It is powered by the automatic caliber 505SR, which provides a power reserve of 40 hours. The movement is visible through a sapphire crystal case back, allowing for appreciation of its finishing. The dial is silver, featuring Breguet numerals and hands, and is protected by a sapphire crystal. The watch offers a water resistance of 30 meters, suitable for everyday wear but not for swimming or diving. The fixed bezel is also crafted from 18k rose gold, complementing the case material.

This reference appeals to collectors who appreciate Breguet's historical design codes combined with a practical complication. Its moon phase display is a central feature, executed with clarity and precision. The 7787 fits within the Classique collection as a model that highlights a specific astronomical complication while maintaining the collection's overall aesthetic. Variants typically involve different case materials or dial finishes, but the core design and complication remain consistent across the reference.

... but I am interested in accuracy even on the La Tradition, with its small dial and lack of seconds display. I set the minute hand accurately and tracked it for weeks on end and the accuracy is within 10 seconds per month. Very happy with the performance. Congratulations on your new watch. Wonderful presence, history, design and dial. Enjoy! Andrew

Often. Your piece is my favorite Breguet of all and I equally love the non enamel version. It's a lovely piece and Breguet has mid complications rarely seen by other brands. I also believe silicon is used in the movement of your one. Also, Breguet has the best boxes of any brand.

I love this watch. Actually I am considering this to be my next, next watch. I know my mind is one step a head of my wallet, oh well. I have the Breguet Marine and thought that this beautiful enamel mid complication watch would be the perfect match. Although I am puzzled because I also like the 7027ba (introduced in 2008). Luckily I have time to think about it. Enjoy your beautiful watch!
