After seeking community advice, dedestexhes shares his final decision for a new car, prioritizing rarity, coupe styling, performance, and practicality for two children. His journey considered options like the Alfa Romeo 4C and Porsche 911, ultimately leading to a choice that balances driving excitement with everyday usability.
, but still a bit practical (I also keep the AM) so should be possible to put 2 kids at the back.

The Porsche Design Chronograph I, reference 911, represents a significant early offering from the brand, establishing its design philosophy in the watchmaking world. This model is notable for its minimalist aesthetic and functional approach, reflecting the brand's automotive heritage through its focus on legibility and material choice. It was conceived as a tool watch, prioritizing clarity and durability over ornate decoration, a characteristic that set it apart from many contemporaries upon its introduction.
Crafted with a black PVD-coated stainless steel case, the Chronograph I features a distinctive monochromatic appearance. The case diameter measures 40mm, providing a substantial yet wearable presence on the wrist. It houses an automatic movement, specifically the Valjoux 7750, known for its robustness and reliability. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal, ensuring scratch resistance, and offers a power reserve of approximately 48 hours.
This reference holds particular appeal for collectors interested in the origins of Porsche Design's horological ventures and the broader trend of black-cased watches. Its straightforward design and mechanical integrity make it a compelling choice for those who appreciate a blend of automotive-inspired engineering and practical watchmaking. The 911 reference is a foundational piece, illustrating the brand's initial vision for a performance-oriented timepiece.
I too think I will end with a " M "... Probably M3. Probably 6 Cyl.... Enjoy! Nicolas.
Suppose an E36? I also looked at the E46 CSL, but already too expensive... Good hunt, Dirk
But the next stage will be the M3.... If I still have my driving license. ;)
get C4 :) but this is awesome choice as well My friend Bimmer fan told me that 135i M is as close to original M3 as you can get He opted for 235xi M.... delivery in 10 days Now I have this issue with cars and colours There is one saying that goes.... Gold is yellow - BMW is black and - hmmm well I'll have to tell you final chapter live not for forum :) Congrats Sincerely Damjan
Hi Dirk, congrats on your choice. IMO this is the very best you can get for the money ! I once drove a 335i Sports with more power and it was fabulous, this 1M or are you going for the M235i ? will be even better! A wet dream for every I-series owner driving a diesel ;-) LOOOOL. Also this is one of the few turbocharged cars that really make you forget you ever wished for a normally aspirated car. The 1M will also become some kind of collectors item in the years to come ... there is a young fello
The E30 will always be the most iconic M of all time, did you know mister B Le Conard used to drive one ? It almost ruïned him, so expensive to keep on the road he decided to burn .. errr sell it. The E36 is a good choice as a second classic-car .. or should i say your first classic car (P1800 is an oldtimer) but i think the E46 would be the better choice in terms of driving-pleasure and maintenance cost, the sound is just intoxicating (i once tried the Z4M with that engine). So better hurry up
