But how do you get it out of that parking spot?

BMW ditched hydraulic steering and added a lot of tech to their newer cars. The 1M was sort of a last hurrah to the more analog years. Manual transmission ONLYX. No significant tech except for a throttle amplifying button. Mechanical LSD. Fixed suspension, etc... The M2 is a good car though have driven it. Wasn’t for me though. They keep adding power to it but I am always searching for simplicity more than added features.
They just keep getting fatter and fatter
The Valencia Orange 1M! Test drove one and wanted to bring it home, but couldn’t convince the wife for another 2 door in the garage. Sigh 😔 Very few were brought into Malaysia and now very seldom seen on the road. Enjoy your ride 🥂 This is mine, an S54 straight six NA engine. Rolled out in May of 2006, the last batch.
But tell me: how well does it handle the winter snow? I assume you put a set of snow tires on it in winter... and how's the handling/road noise on the snows when you're driving on regular pavement? (If you can't tell, I also live in snowy climes, and would love a RWD car, but really only have room for one car in my life.)
