In this post, WatchProSite community member orahu shares his experience with the evolving retail landscape for independent watch brands, specifically highlighting Baltic's new boutique in SoHo, NYC. His upcoming visit, alongside an appointment at the Vacheron Constantin boutique, provides a timely comparison of accessibility and client experience across different segments of the luxury watch market. Orahu's initial encounter with Baltic's appointment-only policy underscores a significant shift in how even accessible independent brands are managing their client interactions.

I will in NYC in two weeks and I have made an appointment to stop by their new boutique in SoHo. I will also be making an appointment to stop in at the VC Boutique uptown.

A year or two ago I stopped by this โ€œflagshipโ€ location during business hours without an appointment. The door was locked โ€” I guess I rang a buzzer โ€” and an employee, via the intercom, said no admission without an appointment. He added โ€œwe donโ€™t have anything to show you anyway!โ€ Ha! Even the Baltic salon requires an appointment for a 30-minute visit.
