This article delves into whether these formidable machines are essential workhorses or luxury statements, examining the capabilities and compromises inherent in today's heavy-duty vehicles. MichaelC's initial post sets the stage for a nuanced look at what constitutes a 'real truck' in an era of diverse automotive needs.

The GMC is a cute truck though. www.youtube.com
I need a bigger bed for the bi-weekly Costco run. The Caterpillar 797F is adequate.
...it was surprisingly easy to park!
According to Tesla, Cybertruck has a payload of 2500 LBs and can pull 11,000 LBs. The truck in the photo has a payload of 3100 LBs and can tow 17,600 LBs. And it is just a gas 3/4 ton. Choose any 1 ton from GM, Ford, or Ram with a diesel, and the Cybertruck is not even in the conversation.
I work in residential architecture, contracting, and natural stone. A single stone pallet is commonly 2500-3000 LBs. I did test drive the truck in the photo, it rides amazingly smooth given the suspension setup.
Not to mention in my sampling 100% of the drivers of these donβt give any space either. The wing mirrors alone are a hazard.
