About the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak-inspired Tourbillon Car Clock

This Audemars Piguet creation represents a fascinating extension of haute horlogerie beyond the wrist, integrating the brand's iconic design language into a bespoke automotive accessory. While Audemars Piguet is primarily celebrated for its wristwatches, particularly the Royal Oak, the brand has a history of crafting unique timekeeping instruments for discerning clients and specialized applications. This piece, with its unmistakable octagonal bezel and exposed screws, clearly draws from the Royal Oak lineage, translating its distinctive aesthetic into a high-performance car clock.

Technically, the clock features a visible tourbillon at the 6 o'clock position, a testament to Audemars Piguet's mastery of complex horological mechanisms. The vibrant red dial, adorned with applied hour markers and the brand's signature at 12 o'clock, provides a striking contrast against the brushed metal finish of the bezel and case. The 43mm diameter, as indicated, ensures a prominent and legible display, suitable for integration into a luxury vehicle's dashboard. The manual-winding tourbillon movement underscores the traditional craftsmanship inherent in such a specialized timekeeping instrument.

As a bespoke or extremely limited-edition piece, this Audemars Piguet Tourbillon Car Clock occupies a unique niche in the luxury market. It appeals to collectors who appreciate the fusion of high-end automotive engineering with sophisticated horology, often commissioned for ultra-exclusive vehicles. Its rarity and the integration of a grand complication like the tourbillon elevate it beyond a mere time-telling device, positioning it as a significant collectible that embodies both mechanical artistry and a highly personalized luxury experience.

I know Bugatti's are special but this just seems like a stupid idea to me.

I mean seriously who needs or better even wants an AP Tourbillon in their dashboard of any car talk about a waste and with the torque and g-force plus uneven roads I can't imagine that is going to be good for the watch either, Marc

+1 I understood select cars having a luxury watch in dashboard…

but a tourbillon surprised me. That being said, if I was someone for whom getting a Bugatti is like a bag of chips, then I would likely appreciate the next level exclusivity of such a feature. Still seems like a waste of a good watch.
