Kong's detailed photo essay captures the essence of the Audemars Piguet PuristSPro event in Singapore, offering readers a vivid glimpse into a significant community gathering. This piece not only showcases rare and complicated AP timepieces but also highlights the unique opportunity to meet horological luminaries like Mr. Giulio Papi and Dr. Thomas Mao.
28 June 2010 Singapore - This evening, 50 pax strong PuristS gathered to attend the Audemars Piguet PuristSPro event and also to meet the revered Mr Giulio Papi.
In addition, many key complicated pieces were present for our viewing pleasure. Among them were the prototype piece of the Jules Audemars handwound high-beat chronometer and the Millenary Carbon One Tourbillon Chronograph.
One more surprise for the PuristS was, Dr Thomas Mao, founder of ThePuristS , appeared too for the wonderful evening.
The location of the evening event was at one of the restaurants in the 1-ha Ginger Garden of the Singapore Botanic Gardens where over 250 species of ginger, also known as Halia (in Malay) are grown.

According to Mr Bottinelli, he was supposedly to be the translator, but with four years of studying English, Mr Giulio Papi would try not to use "his service"

Explaining that lubricants over time will deteriorate and affects accuracy.
Also briefed that though the Swiss lever is the most popular, it has low efficiency of about 35%.
He highlighted that currently some companies are using silicium to tackle the need of lubricants, but AP would not use 'new' materials for the functional components.
Thus AP uses another design of escapement. If I remember correctly, it should be very similar to the Robin Escapement.

Also highlighted after five years of testing, there is no wear on the parts at the escapement with no lubricants applied, thus AP
decided to adopt the escapement.
Next, to achieve chronometry, high frequency helps. The new Jules Audemars Chronometer beats at 43,200 VPH (6 Hz).
( If you would like to listen to the 43200 VPH, a recording was done, and placed at the end of this post)

The night ended late,about 10:30pm.
One of our smart friends, requested an autograph of Papi on the cover with the Jules Audemars Chronometer.
However, the night was not over for some Friends ....
They stayed behind to chat with Mr. Oliviero Bottinelli and Mr Giulio Papi, and view the watches !

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak reference 15305 is a notable variant within the Royal Oak line, distinguished by its openworked dial and movement, offering a direct view into the intricate mechanics. This reference represents a more elaborate and technically complex interpretation of the standard Royal Oak, appealing to collectors who appreciate haute horlogerie and the art of skeletonization. It was produced in limited quantities, making it a less common sight compared to its solid-dial counterparts. The openworked design allows for an appreciation of the finishing and architecture of the movement, a hallmark of Audemars Piguet's craftsmanship.
The watch features a 39 mm case crafted from 18k yellow gold, maintaining the classic Royal Oak proportions. It houses the self-winding Caliber 3120, which is meticulously openworked and finished to expose its components. The movement provides a power reserve of 60 hours. A sapphire crystal protects the dial, and the watch is water-resistant to 50 meters, suitable for everyday wear. The fixed octagonal bezel, a signature element of the Royal Oak, is also in 18k yellow gold.
This reference appeals to collectors seeking a Royal Oak with an enhanced level of mechanical artistry and exclusivity. Its openworked nature sets it apart from more common Royal Oak models, positioning it as a piece that highlights Audemars Piguet's technical prowess in movement decoration and design. The 18k yellow gold construction further emphasizes its premium status. While not a double-signed piece as mentioned in the collector's post, the 15305 stands on its own as a significant openworked Royal Oak.
Some guys are lucky, to be able to attend such great events. Great watches, nice friends, sublime food and wine. Heaven is on Earth! Best, Nicolas
Thank you for the invite. It was certainly an enjoyable evening... Food was good and company....couldn't be better! Thank you to the AP Singapore & The Purists for making this event a success. And a special mention to Mr Giulio for learning english. Although he had some difficulty but he managed to explain the concepts well enough to understand... Cheers Pishu
Another super-impressive Audemars Piguet/PuristSPro event! Beautiful photographs of the most interesting watches! I'm getting a kick out of reading the presentation on the slide-show. The Jules Audemars Chronometer is a very beautiful and interesting watch. I didn't know that it had an enamel dial. It would certainly be nice to see this watch paired right next to a Breguet La Tradition watch, which also exhibits the similar open dial. Thank you for all the photos Kong! Again, I see pictures of g
AP always puts on such wonderful events. Thanks Kong for sharing the macro pics of the JA Chronometer. Regards, ED-209
The Jules Audemars Chronometer is something else and must surely be the most expensive time only wristwatch with no diamonds or tourbillon. That high beat is really amazing and as Giulio said, is possible because no lubrication is needed. It was tested to +1.1s per day by COSC (whole watch, not movement only) which is pretty amazing for a back to basics watch without single/multiple axis tourbillon. Interesting thing is the Chronometer has been in testing for wear and tear, accuracy etc more tha
