Nicolas (amanico) initiates a critical discussion on the new Alpine A 290, questioning its alignment with the brand's performance heritage. His post meticulously details the electric model's specifications, highlighting concerns about its weight, electric powertrain, and range. This article synthesizes community reactions to understand if the A 290 truly embodies the spirit of Alpine.

Lovely, pleasant, but... Electric.

3, 99 meters, 1480 Kilos ( ouch! that is super heavy for an Alpine, the A 110, was 1115 Kilos )... 180 or 220 HP, 285 Nm or 300 Nm, 0 to 100 Km/h in 7, 4 seconds ( 180 HP ) or 6, 4 seconds ( 220 HP ), and an autonomy of... 380 Kilometers... That's the current sausage we have, nowadays.

Starting price : 38, 000 Euros.

Give it the A 110 Engine ( fuel ) and I would kill to have one. As it is, sorry, but not for me.

The EV kills a big part of the feelings, the weight is not Alpine anymore, and the autonomy is ridiculous.

Best,

Nicolas

This is a horrible Alpine. Only Marketing. The Performance is a joke - in every aspect. And the dimensions - there is so much wrong here! 😱 Much to high. They tried to cover it up a bit with the large wheels. They failed. For me it looks as a „wanna be“ - visible to anybody… 🙈🙈 On what I agree with you: Definitely not for me! 😅

It s a pity for Alpine. But look at Lotus! Same story there! The Lotus Eletre… 😱😱😱 Not with a hot hatch but with an SUV. Apparently there is no market left for niche performance cars…

The camera car (or drone) must have been going at least 100 kph to stay ahead of it Cazalea

That's way too short of range. And the acceleration is also too slow. And I don't do FWD.

The worst part was reading the CEO interview trying to convince himself and readers about the merits of the new model. That thing is at least 500kg too heavy, what a bunch of BS.
