Amanico reflects on his past ownership of an Alfa Romeo GT 3.2, a car he deeply regrets selling. This post captures the essence of this vehicle, from its melodious engine and direct handling to its charming black exterior with a red interior, while also candidly addressing its significant fuel consumption.

Here is a video to give you an idea of the melody of the engine.

The big asset of this car, as most of the Alfa, its engine.

Melodious, full of life, powerful... Magic.

The car was very direct, too, a pleasure in the curves.

The suspension was a bit hard, rigid, but it is worth it for a sports car.

As for the body, it had its charm. Mine was black, with a red interior. Very charming.

Here is a picture of the beast, found on the net ( credit unknown ).

A really funny car to drive...

Why did I let it go? The fuel consumption...

I remember a 200 kilometers trip made under very illegal speeds, I had to refill after 180 kilometers... 63 liters...

And if you are stuck in important traffic jams, you can only pray to quickly find a gaz station... The run out of gaz comes very quickly.

Now, if you drive it reasonably, on the highway, you can have a 8.O liters average fuel consumption. But you have to be veeeeeery reasonable.

Best,

Nicolas

the problem with fuel consumption is still an issue with modern performance cars. My New RS easily gets up to 20-25 l/100 km when i drive it hard ... knowing i can even go a lot faster. 7 l/100 km is also possible, but then zero as well if you push it forward ;-) Filip

Luckily the RS is reasonable in city trafic, just. And i know all about looking stupid, two days ago me and a friend blocked the middle lane on the highway when his Ford van gave up. We stood there for two hours looking at that van in the middle of the highway while thousands of people passed by watching and laughing at us

Paris is a town for a Smart. 63 Liters, you are kidding. for so much gas i like to see more performance, from 200 to 240 i miss something, even more uphill. Another point is the position of the motor, full front not behind the the front axis, look where is the frontwheel and the long nose. This is not car who like curves. In case of this Alfa, for the same money you have the Stinger . The links dont work? The man behind the Stinger is the same who is behind the BMW M models and he changed to KI

... and I'm guessing it's not one that ever made it to the United States. I love all things Alfa though and always longed for a late '50s or early '60s Giulia/Giulietta. Now I long for a modern Giulia, which gets excellent reviews. Alfa's position in this country, however, is somewhat tenuous. The fear is I'm driving across the USA and it breaks down in Iowa or Colorado and the nearest repair shop is two states away!

Very few vehicles sound as good as an Alfa V6. I wish the US versions got a proper transmission. I know the paddles are faster, but lack some of the feel of rowing your own. Whenever I need a smile on my face and the weather is cooperating I take my 1985 GTV 6 for a spin around some mountain roads in the Berkshires. It works without fail. You have a wonderful Alfa! Cheers, Wojo

Devil is in the details, and I would expect you to have an Alfa Romeo sports car with a red interior! That's some crazy fuel consumption! 63 liters in 180 km!? That's only 6.71 miles to the US Gallon! I drive a 5.4L engine and I get double that! Car needs to drink a lot of blood!
