I always wanted a RG Lange and a RIchard Lange to fill the Lange family models.

Which RL is the big question. The most popular and highly regarded ones are the PLM models, especially the initial PT and RG with enamel dials but those are hard to find (Pt models) and mostly beyond my budget.

Then there’s also Terraluna that is really like a can of tuna (sorry, too thick for my puny wrist).

The PLM Tourbillon will be great too in terms of value but again, will put a huge dent to my wallet.

The RL Jumping Seconds is also great but I kind of have a Jumping seconds from the 1815 Walter Lange Homage.

I don’t need a time only RL and that left with 1 final option…their Referenzuhr (250.025 and 250.032).

This one fits the bill of being simple in front, but turn over and you’ll see what I mean. The rationale and movement it takes to achieve the zero reset is just extravagant.

When I see this RG version, I knew that is it.

There are not a lot of reviews or info about the Referenzuhr except this wonderful site, by various Mods in 2010.

At that time, many aren’t used to the off center subdial, and this watch was overshadowed by the 165th Anniversary pieces. Funny a RL collector kept complaining about the accuracy of the minute hands, on the fence for a long time but end up getting one as well.

If you look at many watches today, off center subdials are everywhere, most popular are FPJ watches, their sub dial is off, so are a few renowned Independents with cutouts on the side.

Anyways, I like this watch and it’s a good compliment to the 1815 Walter Lange Homage….so here it is, meet your Grand Uncle, Herr Walter Lange.

See…the resemblance of family bloodline is uncanny

About the A. Lange and Söhne Emil Lange Ref. 1815

The A. Lange & Söhne 1815 reference 206.032, introduced in 1999, is a notable example of the brand's commitment to traditional watchmaking principles. This model is part of the 1815 collection, which pays homage to the birth year of Ferdinand Adolph Lange and emphasizes classic design elements such as Arabic numerals and blued hands, drawing inspiration from historical Lange pocket watches. It represents a more understated and purist aesthetic compared to some of the brand's more complex offerings, focusing on fundamental horological excellence.

This particular reference features an 18k rose gold case measuring 36mm in diameter and 7.5mm in thickness. It houses the manually wound L941.1 caliber, visible through a sapphire crystal case back. The movement provides a power reserve of 45 hours. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal on the front, protecting a solid silver dial. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters, suitable for everyday wear but not for immersion.

The 1815 206.032 appeals to collectors who appreciate classical proportions and a focus on fundamental watchmaking without excessive complications. Its smaller case size reflects a more traditional approach to men's wristwatches, making it a desirable piece for those seeking a discreet yet highly refined timepiece. The combination of rose gold and a silver dial offers a warm and legible presentation, consistent with the collection's historical inspirations.
